Chat if you’re trying to score 750+ on SAT Reading, you should be able to finish Module 1 in about 20 minutes.
If you can’t… you might be cooked.

Why?
Because Reading Module 1 is the easy module. It sets the tone for your score on Module 2. It’s not enough to just finish within the full 32 minutes. You need Bruce Lee speed + accuracy on this module so you can save your brain power for what’s coming next.
And what’s coming next?
Hard Module 2.
The passages are more confusing. The middle questions (especially 5–15) take more time and focus. If you go into Module 2 already tired from rushing Module 1, you’re probably not making it.
Your goal for Module 1 is simple:
Autopilot. No stress. No rush. Just pure vibes.
So how do you get Reading Module 1 under 20 minutes?
1. Do the easy questions first.
Start with:
- Grammar
- Transitions
- Notes questions
That’s usually questions 15–27. These are fast points. Knock them out first, then go back to questions 1–15.
That way, when you hit the longer passages in the middle, you actually have time to think.
2. Get elite at grammar, transitions, and notes.
These questions should take you 30 seconds or less.
If you’re spending:
- 1–2 minutes debating commas
- Guessing on transitions
- Rereading notes questions
You’re wasting time and energy.
Lock these in and everything else gets easier.
3. Become a summarizing machine.
If you’re a natural speed reader, congrats — you’re built for this.
If the most you read this week was a reddit thread…then you have to learn to summarize fast.
Practice turning every sentence into a quick mental summary:
- “This line is the main idea.”
- “This line is an example.”
- “This line is a counterpoint.”
Once you get good at that, your reading speed and understanding explodes.
That’s when you turn into a Reading Module speed demon.
TL;DR
If you’re aiming for 750+ in SAT Reading, your gold standard is this:
Finish Module 1 in ~20 minutes with high accuracy.
Not rushed..
Not “just in time.”
Not panicking.
Clean. Calm. Controlled.
